Brand Haiku - Commercial Poetry

Brand Haiku (or BrandKu)

As I’m sure you know, Haiku are poems with three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables. So Brand Haiku, or BrandKu, are simply Haiku written with a specific product or brand in mind. There are a couple reasons why I like these little product poems:

1. They are relatively quick and easy to write, yet structured and creatively unrestrictive.

2. They are a litmus test. If you think you've got a fully baked concept try turning into a Haiku - it's always telling when you try to narrow down an idea down to a few words. Or if you have an idea in the making, this might help you flesh it out a bit.

3. They are a personal expression of your commercial creativity. It's nice to get some creative aerobics in once a while. These ad poems are just a fun way to exercise the right side of your brain.

So next time your eating, drinking, wearing, using or experiencing some product or service see if you can't come up with a quick Brandku for it.
